Nestled in a quiet lane of Indiranagar, Viel House is envisioned as an inward-looking tropical retreat — a home that balances privacy, openness, and the tactile warmth of natural materials.

At its heart lies a lush courtyard that floods the interiors with soft, filtered light, connecting the spaces vertically and visually. The home’s defining element — a screen crafted from reclaimed wood — wraps around the façade, blurring the boundaries between inside and out. This timber veil softens the built form, allowing air and dappled light to weave through, while offering both privacy and a constantly shifting play of shadow.

Within, the spaces flow seamlessly — a sunken living area anchored by built-in seating, an open kitchen facing the courtyard, and bedrooms that open to planted balconies. The restrained material palette of lime plaster, timber, and stone lets texture, light, and greenery take precedence, creating a sense of calm continuity throughout.

Rooted in the ethos of tropical minimalism, Viel House is a quiet dialogue between craft, light, and landscape — a home that breathes through its screen and lives in rhythm with nature.
